Re: What's on your Workbench?

Oh wow, just saw your photo! A lot easier than I thought. I might see if someone has a level converter from our club tonight.

Re: What's on your Workbench?

Thanks Tim, I'll check out the instructions now. Yes... I have one of those on order for the exact same reason since the Stealth's only need -6dBm to drive them to full output. I've also built a a little circuit with a couple of relays sequenced from the transverter, so I can switch the amp out and ...

Re: What's on your Workbench?

got an SGlabs 3.4GHz transverter for Christmas and I've just reprogrammed its LO to match the IF I use for my transverters. Was this easy to do Tim? I'm just in the process of removing my GARC panel from my 3.4 GHz system over to the SG Lab transverter. It will only accept a 430 MHz IF out of the b...

What bits of equipment have you re-purposed? Show us. Only really what we've been working on lately. 20191229_053345231_iOS.jpg A 1.2m Andrews dish that was on 7 GHz. That's a good setup Peter.
We're hoping to be running a club station for upcoming FD. We've got the generator all covered!

Re: Kings Generators

Thanks for the replies Nik and Nigel. Seems Honda is the way to go, and the EU10 was the model I borrowed for the last FD.

The 2KW unit had some slight RF issues that were solved with filters.
Hi Nigel,
What were the RF issues and what did you do to rectify them. I'm looking at getting a generator for Field Days and portable, but I worry about RF noise on 6 metres and 2 metres.

500km (310 miles) on the 2.4 GHz and 3.4 GHz Ham Radio bands!

Last night, 22nd of October the Hepburn charts had a prediction of strong to very strong tropo ducting enhancement over Bass Strait. I promptly got in contact with Rod VK3BQJ and Geoff VK3KGR to attempt a contact from Mt.Wellington near Hobart. Once I arrived after work (at approx 6pm) I could immed...

Hi Peter,
Sorry yes I should have clarified that the issue was with the distribution amplifier and not the GPS unit.

Thanks

Re: BG7TBL GPSDO (GPS Disciplined Oscillator) and 10 MHz Distribution Amplifier

Of note too Adam - and documented on the forum here elsewhere. The 10 MHz distribution amp comes in two variants, one with a OCXO and one without. Peter VK3QI in this post shows the issues with the variant that uses an OCXO. http://vklogger.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=13917&p=63614&hilit=bg7tbl#p63614 ...

BG7TBL GPSDO (GPS Disciplined Oscillator) and 10 MHz Distribution Amplifier

Need a GPSDO to compliment your new IC-9700 and keep it on frequency? The BG7TBL is a popular GPS disciplined oscillator available on eBay. Many amateurs use this as their 10 MHz reference for frequency locking radios. They come in two versions, one that is sine wave, the other a square wave. A hand...
