Re: New from Analog the ADF4371 62Mhz - 32Ghz Synthesizer

All good points ! I dont know the CMA38400 - can you point me at some info ? A quick search on Ebay turned up nothing but colourful phone cases :wtf: and googling turned up some references in issue 207 of the French Microwave Mag Hyper but no hard data or where one might acquire such a device. than...

Re: New from Analog the ADF4371 62Mhz - 32Ghz Synthesizer

Its dam expensive though Tim. Looks like somewhere around $390+NZ  Roger Don't forget the output level is quite low so you need a wideband power amp as well, plus don't forget FR4 PCB will present significant challenges at that frequency. The BOM starts to look expensive :o This chip may be ...

Re: ZL2WHO/B 23cm Panel Antenna

Nice work Looks good guys. Are you going to run the same ant. down this way or just more power. I haven't seen the beacon on JT4 for a while now but then again Im not listening as much as I was. You need to get WSPR running on it   Hi Roger The master plan for the other 2 antennas, once...

ZL2WHO/B 23cm Panel Antenna

Mark ZL2WHO has been busy building a more 23cm panel antennas for the Waipuna Ridge beacon site (ZL2WHO/b) specifically to point towards VK-Land. Based on a nice opening in October 2015 we know propagation can happen, so it just made sense to fire some RF in the VK2/VK4 direction. The original desig...

Re: Hp Z3816a GPSDO

Hi Kevin, The best thing to do is connect a RS232 terminal to the unit and query what is going on. I believe the command is: :system:diag:log:read:all? and :system:status? Some of the HP units (not sure which one, there are many GPSDO models) have issues with the GPS date. The underlying issue is th...

Re: cleaning plastic battery holders

Wayne It is probably more than the cost of the radio but I highly recommend investing in an ultrasonic cleaner. I've had one for a few years and it has payed for itself several times over. There are plenty to choose from in Aliexpress - I recommend an all stainless model. For a cleaning agent I norm...

Re: Centre pins for type N connecters

Does anyone know where you can buy replacement centre pins for type N connectors? I have some that have no pins or have crimped pins that cannot be re-used. 73 Wayne VK4WDM Try rfsupplier.com (details on contact page). Some time ago they gave me a price for crimp rings and extra dust caps for N con...

Re: Trimble 10MHz 65256

Dave, Great work on the repair job. As you have discovered the Trimble OCXO is a nice unit - the only downside is the current draw is quite high (1.9A) at startup which is very high compared to other surplus models from China. It does settle down to ~0.25A after a few minutes so it wont tax the batt...

Re: Pi Software and Hardware issues, Linux

Successful operation of USB requires a good reliable power source. Often there is insufficient power budget left for USB peripheral operation and wall adapter ratings are questionable. I recommend you try a good power adapter capable of 2A to see if that solves your issue. The apple iPad adapter is ...

Re: Minikits 23cms RA18H1213G amp

Hi, the standing current is a lot higher that I had expected, was hopeful of a power efficient P.A for the 23cm beacon I am building but with 4amps all the of the key up time, is quite a current draw for idle over 24Hours ( I want to have the beacon run as a low duty cycle system if possible ) has ...

Re: Minikits 23cms RA18H1213G amp

Thanks for treading this I have just completed assembly of a Minikits 23cms amplifier using the Mitsibushi RA18H1213G module which is supposed to produce about 20 watts PEP on 1296MHz Kevin, This is perfectly acceptable for the RA18H1213 power block. Not quite the correct orientation, but I got these from the sale bin at Bunnings earlier in the year (after Christmas I guess...) Should be ok for a horizontal run if you push them under the tile.
